Message from Mac Brey

Oh my god..!  Thank you.  Your photos, memories, and kind words are comforting to my family and I.   Knowing how many people's lives Mark touched and the positive impact he had is truly gratifying to us.  We are so proud to have had him as a brother and a son....

While back in New York this past week I had the pleasure of meeting many of Mark's friends.  I was honored to speak for my family and specifically for my father at the service.  While preparing I had a hard time focusing on creating a "proper" speech...  All I could think of were little memories of good times and laughter... the joke marathons we would have... so finally I just gave up... and decided to say how I felt and tell one last joke... about him.  The audience was filled with his friends many being members of the gay and lesbian community...  Anyway it went something like this:

...Mark was who he was and lived his life accordingly, staying true to himself.  He taught me important lessons in life about acceptance and tolerance.  I didn't understand his lifestyle, how could I?  I mean, it seemed so unnatural...  (at this point there was enough tension in the room to cause an ulcer)...

How could he have been a vegetarian all these years..?

The audience laughed in relief so loud and long.  Thank you.

Life is short, make it count... like Mark did.
