Celebrating Deora Bodley's Life

"She wanted to serve, to help people in a peaceful world, and to reach that peaceful world....She was a good person in search of the right thing, and...she was willing to work for others."

Deora in Compukids (1991)

In 1991, Deora (age 10) played a young girl "lost" in a computer in the TAP show, "Compukids, " written by her father, Derrill, who was musical director, and Jeff Mooring, artistic director. The clip below is of Deora singing a solo, "Ceiling - Sky," that Derrill and Jeff wrote for her character, "Tanya." She is accompanied by her father.

In the story, the children have discovered that they are lost in a computer and may not know how to return home. Deora, who is afraid, takes comfort in the words she remembers her father saying when he put her to bed each night as a small child afraid of the dark.

I know that Derrill was a wonderful father and believe that Deora always knew the love and comfort from Derrill that he expressed in this song he wrote for her. I believe that those feelings were so important to her that, in the last frightening moments of her life, his love gave her comfort.

This  clip is from an old tape! Please be patient and give it a minute to load.
